Brazil's Quatro Rodas Picks the Best Sports Cars Under 500 hp for 2026

In its annual Melhor Compra ("Best Buy") feature, Brazil's Quatro Rodas magazine has assembled a shortlist of 2026 sports cars with no more than 500 hp, and Porsche and BMW claim every spot on it.

First place goes to the Porsche 911 Carrera S, pitched as a dependable pick that blends showroom presence with genuine everyday usability. A 3.0-liter turbocharged flat-six producing 450 hp sends power through an eight-speed PDK, and the sprint to 100 km/h takes 3.5 seconds.

Second is the 480-hp BMW M2 Coupe, a rear-driven rival whose twin-turbo 3.0-liter six sits up front. It runs an eight-speed automatic and combines a dedicated drift mode with adaptive suspension; 0-100 km/h comes up in 3.9 seconds.

The bronze spot belongs to the Porsche 911 Carrera T, where T stands for Touring and hints at a leaner recipe: part of the sound deadening is deleted and the glass is thinner. A six-speed manual is the standard gearbox, with a seven-speed PDK available as an option, and output is 394 hp.
