Bus maker Marcopolo launches the Nomade, a factory-built 4x4 motorhome priced like a Porsche

Marcopolo, the Brazilian company best known for buses and rail vehicles, has entered the motorhome business with the Nomade, its first factory-built camper. That sets it apart from roughly 90% of Brazil's motorhome market, which consists of conversions built from commercial vans. The Nomade is produced under the same processes as the firm's coaches, riding on a heavily modified Agrale chassis with 4x4 drive and an automatic gearbox, and its 7.5-meter body — offering 12 square meters of living space — had to pass collision simulations just like a bus.

Buyers can choose their own layout. The prototype combines a lounge with an open kitchen, a bathroom split between toilet and shower, and a rear bedroom that can be closed off as a suite. The dinette slides a full meter outward, the telescopic table lowers electrically to form an extra bed, and fiber-optic ceiling lights recreate a starry sky in the style of a Rolls-Royce. Lighting responds to smart switches or Alexa, while a central panel manages water tanks, gas, security cameras and heating, including an underfloor system. On the roof sit 750 W solar panels feeding lithium batteries, plus a Starlink satellite antenna and an electric awning.

There are two kitchens: the indoor one carries a double-opening fridge, wine cooler, oven, microwave and range hood, while the outdoor unit is stowed in the bodywork behind a sealed hatch with its own 32-inch TV. A small washing machine hides in the luggage bay, and the bathroom mirror integrates a thermometer and Bluetooth speaker. Power comes from a Cummins 3.8-liter turbo-diesel four producing 175 hp and 61.2 kgfm.

Pricing starts at R$ 1.5 million — the cost of a well-specced Porsche — with no ceiling once options enter the picture. Marcopolo declines to state sales figures, but every unit planned for 2026 has already been sold and the first deliveries are complete.
