Cheaper tri-motor Denza Z9 GT arrives in China with a $49,200 price tag

Denza, BYD's premium marque, opened a new entry point to its Z9 GT shooting brake on September 9 with the e3 Flash Charge trim, priced at 329,800 yuan (about $49,200) in China. That undercuts the existing e3 Flash Charge Performance Edition by 40,000 yuan (~$5,960) while keeping the same 850 kW (1,140 hp) tri-motor setup.

The e3 all-wheel-drive system pairs a 230-kW front motor with two 310-kW rear permanent-magnet units for 1,210 N·m of torque and a claimed 0–100 km/h time of 2.8 seconds. Independent rear-wheel steering is standard, cutting the turning radius to 4.62 meters, and the car sits on DiSus-A air suspension. BYD's second-generation Blade Battery delivers 860 km of CLTC range (600 km WLTP), and the Flash Charging system promises a large top-up in five minutes or a full charge in nine under favorable conditions — three minutes longer in severe cold. BYD's dedicated charging network passed 10,000 stations in China by late August.

The discount comes from hardware: ventilated cast-iron brake discs replace the Performance version's carbon-ceramic units, and selected cabin amenities are dropped, while driver assistance stays at DiPilot 5.0 with city navigation on autopilot. The new price also matches the dual-motor Zeekr 001 AWD's top trim, which makes just 580 kW (778 hp) — leaving the Denza with a 270-kW output edge.

The launch follows a sharp sales climb for the Z9 GT: monthly deliveries jumped from 712 units in March 2026 to a peak of 6,025 in June, before slipping 11.3% to 5,344 in July. That month the model accounted for 29.6% of Denza's domestic passenger-car volume, making it a pillar of the brand alongside the D9 MPV.
