BYD's personalization-focused marque Fang Cheng Bao jumped into the cutthroat electric sedan segment on September 16 with the Formula S series, comprising a conventional sedan and a Formula S GT shooting brake. Pricing opens at 189,900 yuan (roughly $28,080) — about 17%, or 40,100 yuan, below the 230,000-yuan floor set when pre-orders began on August 20.
The sedan spans five variants from 189,900 to 229,900 yuan, while the GT gets four trims between 219,900 and 239,900 yuan. Range peaks at 900 km CLTC on the long-range rear-drive sedan and 850 km on the rear-drive GT. Every variant pairs the second-generation Blade Battery with fast charging that recovers 10–70% in five minutes, and all come with the LiDAR-based God's Eye B driver-assistance suite. Output runs from 245 kW on the entry rear-drive car to 490 kW combined for all-wheel-drive versions.
Chassis hardware is a key differentiator: the series marks the first application of DiSus-M, a magnetorheological damper setup that adjusts damping within milliseconds, while DiSus-A variants substitute dual-chamber air suspension at identical prices. Both body styles are mid-to-large sized on a shared 2,960 mm wheelbase and will square off against the Xiaomi SU7 and Tesla Model 3.
Formula S becomes Fang Cheng Bao's third line after its off-road Bao and urban Tai SUV families. The expansion lands amid steep growth: August deliveries hit 41,568, up about 156% year-on-year, and the 242,255 units sold through August already exceed the brand's entire 2025 tally of 234,637.
