Geely Galaxy's first rugged off-road SUV, the Cruiser 700, opens pre-sales in China from RMB 199,800

Geely's Galaxy brand began taking pre-orders in China on September 15 for the Cruiser 700, a plug-in hybrid off-roader that marks the sub-brand's first move into the rugged SUV segment. Pricing runs from RMB 199,800 (about $29,530) to RMB 269,800 across five mainstream variants, while a Land Ark special edition limited to 700 units is listed at RMB 389,800. Response was immediate: Galaxy reported more than 10,000 orders in the first nine minutes and 43,900 within an hour, with the limited edition fully claimed in 12 minutes — though pre-sale tallies do not represent firm, locked-in sales.

Buyers can pick between two-wheel-drive versions of a 1.5-liter turbo PHEV and triple-motor all-wheel-drive setups in either 1.5- or 2.0-liter turbo form. The flagship 2.0-liter variant delivers a combined 830 kW and is rated at 3.95 seconds for the 0-100 km/h sprint. Every trim shares a 47.14-kWh LFP battery pack sourced from CATL, with rated electric ranges of 305, 280 and 270 kilometers depending on the version. The five-seater measures 5,085 mm long with a 2,900-mm wheelbase and keeps traditional off-road cues like a boxy silhouette, side-opening tailgate and externally mounted spare tire, while tech includes the G-ASD H7 driver-assistance system and the Flyme Auto 2 cockpit with point-to-point navigation assist.

First shown on July 24 and due for formal launch by year-end, the model — sold in China as the Zhanjian 700 — will go up against BYD's Fang Cheng Bao and GWM's Tank in the off-road market. The pre-sale push comes as Galaxy regains momentum: August deliveries hit 119,115 units, up 7.63 percent year on year for a third consecutive monthly gain, although the 746,705 vehicles sold in the first eight months remain slightly below last year's pace.
