The Haval H9 brings a traditional, boxy off-roader design together with modern cabin technology and a roomy three-row interior. The reviewed Lux 4x4 has a 2.4-liter turbo-diesel producing 183 hp and 480 Nm, matched to a nine-speed automatic and BorgWarner torque-on-demand four-wheel drive. Low-range gearing, locking differentials and seven terrain modes support more demanding routes.
On-road, the reviewer found the large SUV composed and comfortable, with a well-calibrated powertrain, useful visibility and a clear 540-degree camera. Reported fuel economy was about 8–10 km/L in heavy city traffic and around 14 km/L on highways. The test vehicle also remained free of rattles or faults despite having covered 15,000 km.
The review praises the H9’s passenger space, equipment and value, while noting the absence of ADAS, unused-looking switch spaces and awkward turn-signal stalks. The author did not conduct an off-road test during this drive, but cites an earlier GWM demonstration in China where the H9 handled an extreme trail. In the Philippines, the Lux 4x4 is the sole variant and costs PHP 1,998,000.
