GWM Ora 5 sedan surfaces in MIIT filings with petrol, hybrid and EV versions

Homologation documents filed with China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology indicate the Ora 5 is being spun into a full model line, with a sedan as the newest addition and a coupe-SUV also anticipated. The disclosure follows an earlier leak of the plug-in hybrid variant.

Up front, the four-door keeps the SUV's signature styling — round lamps, soft surfacing and a low intake — while the rear borrows the PHEV's linked LED lights and GWM badge, stretched by a proper trunk. Wheels are 18-inch across the board in several distinct patterns, and the report argues GWM is cultivating a "family face" on par with what Audi and Volkswagen once made their trademarks.

The sedan stretches 4.75 m long, 1.83 m wide and 1.62 m tall on a 2.72 m wheelbase, and sticks with conventional door handles rather than flush ones — a response to Beijing's tightened rules on retractable hardware. The interior remains under wraps but is expected to echo the existing Ora 5.

Three powertrain routes are listed: a 1.5 turbo petrol with 182 hp and 28 kgfm; a Miller-cycle 1.5 hybrid shared with the Haval H6 producing 225 hp and 48.5 kgfm, matching the full-hybrid Ora 5 already sold abroad; and a front-driven electric motor with 204 hp and 26.5 kgfm. Battery capacity wasn't disclosed, though keeping the SUV's 58.3 kWh pack would imply 349 km of range on the Inmetro cycle.
