IM Motors takes pre-orders for next-gen LS6 SUV as orders top 8,000 in 45 minutes

IM Motors, the electric brand of China's SAIC Motor, kicked off pre-sales for its next-generation LS6 on Thursday with three battery-electric trims: Max, Pro Max and Ultra, priced at 209,900 yuan (about $30,970), 229,900 yuan and 264,900 yuan respectively. The company says the SUV racked up more than 8,000 pre-orders within the first 45 minutes.

The new LS6 arrives under the brand's "NEXT·2028" roadmap, shortly after the refreshed L6 sedan, and leans heavily on chassis tech to stand out. Every version gets an 800-volt electrical architecture and an entirely by-wire setup — steering, braking, and four-wheel steering that articulates 18 degrees in each direction — for a 4.79-meter turning radius. The range-topping Ultra adds air suspension and adaptive damping.

The rear-drive Max and Pro Max carry 76-kWh and 93-kWh batteries with CLTC ranges of 650 km and 782 km, reaching 100 km/h in 6.4 and 5.4 seconds. The dual-motor Ultra uses a 103-kWh pack, manages 750 km and sprints in 3.48 seconds.

To court family buyers alongside the Model Y and Zeekr 7X, IM is loading the cabin with a B&O audio system, a massaging driver's seat, a 15.6-inch passenger screen and a dual-access fridge as limited-time freebies, while the IM AD Zeta driver-assist suite and an IM Claw AI agent built on Alibaba's Qwen model handle the smart features. A 2,000-yuan refundable deposit converts into a 5,000-yuan credit once orders are locked in; final pricing lands at launch, and buyers will recall the outgoing LS6 cut its entry price from 209,900 to 197,900 yuan after pre-sales.
