Jaecoo has launched the 5 in Brazil as a full-hybrid compact SUV, with two trims priced at promotional launch rates of R$154,990 for the Comfort and R$179,990 for the Prestige. After the introductory period, those figures are set to rise to R$159,990 and R$184,990. The model measures 4.38 meters long, with a 2.62-meter wheelbase, and is positioned against SUVs including the Volkswagen T-Cross, Hyundai Creta and Honda HR-V, as well as the hybrid Toyota Yaris Cross.

Its powertrain combines a 135-hp 1.5-liter turbo gasoline engine with a 204-hp electric motor, for a combined 224 hp and 30.1 kgfm of torque. Jaecoo claims 0–100 km/h in 7.9 seconds; the cited Inmetro fuel-economy figure is 15.5 km/l. The test found the system generally prioritizes electric drive, with the gasoline engine also replenishing its 1.83-kWh battery. A firm but controlled suspension setup and good cabin isolation contributed to a positive driving impression.

The review’s main reservations concern value and equipment. Both trims use a basic seven-segment instrument display, and there is no spare wheel. The Comfort also lacks the Prestige’s driver-assistance suite and several amenities, including a 13-inch multimedia screen, 360-degree cameras and full-LED headlights. Since the Jaecoo 5 costs the same as the Omoda 5, which offers a digital instrument panel and more equipment in its base version, the reviewer sees the price as a potential obstacle. The 5 shares its platform and mechanical package with the Omoda 5, while the larger Jaecoo 7 is another alternative.
