Leapmotor’s B03 electric hatchback has secured approval for sale in Australia, positioning it to compete with affordable models such as the BYD Atto 1 and Geely EX2. The Australian certification covers front-wheel-drive versions with 130kW and 145kW motors; local specifications are still unconfirmed.

The filing lists 16- or 17-inch wheels, while the car measures 4,175mm long and has a 2,605mm wheelbase. Leapmotor has not disclosed which batteries will be offered in Australia. As a guide, the related B03X SUV is available in Europe with 39.8kWh and 53kWh batteries, with WLTP ranges of 292km and 382km respectively.

Pricing has also not been announced. The article expects the hatchback to cost less than A$30,000, based partly on expectations for the B03X’s Australian starting price. Current lower-priced EV alternatives include the BYD Atto 1, Geely EX2 and BYD Dolphin Essential.
