Lotus Emira 420 Sport Lands in the UAE as a Sharper Range-Topper

AGMC opens orders for the 2027 flagship, which packs 416 hp, a lowered chassis and Porsche 718 Cayman in its sights.

Lotus has added a hotter flagship to its two-seater line-up in the UAE. The Emira 420 Sport joins the range for the 2027 model year, with AGMC — which took over as the brand's official UAE distributor earlier this year — handling orders.

At its core is a Mercedes-AMG-derived 2.0-litre turbo four producing 416 hp and 500 Nm, fed to the rear wheels through an eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox. Lotus quotes 3.9 seconds for the 0-100 km/h run and a 300 km/h top speed, and bills the car as the quickest four-cylinder production model on sale. The upgrades go well beyond the engine: the chassis sits 5 mm lower, the aero adds roughly 25 kg of downforce, and buyers can opt for a Lightweight Handling Pack that trims up to 25 kg, plus Multimatic adaptive dampers, better brake cooling, forged 20-inch wheels, a titanium exhaust and extra carbon-fibre. Inside there is Nappa leather, perforated Alcantara, carbon trim and the Track Pro telemetry system.

UAE pricing has yet to be confirmed. For reference, the regular Emira 2.0T lists at about AED 315,000 while a Porsche 718 Cayman starts near AED 260,000. Rather than chasing value-focused coupes like the Toyota GR Supra, the 420 Sport is aimed squarely at the Cayman and Cayman S, countering with more power and a stronger emphasis on driver engagement.

In a market overflowing with fast cars, Lotus is counting on the Emira's rarity and its traditional sports-car layout to stand out. It will remain a niche choice, but for UAE buyers weary of the usual Porsche, Mercedes-AMG and BMW options, the new flagship makes a persuasive case.
