Malaysia's JPJ has banked RM36.6 million from special number

Revenue from vanity plate series has grown year on year from RM46 million in 2024, with half of net proceeds funding welfare programmes like MyLesen and helmet exchanges.

Malaysia's road transport department has pulled in roughly RM36.6 million from its special registration plate series in 2026 to date, a figure disclosed during the debut of the new 'H' series. Three earlier releases this year — FH, P_P and V_MY — hit the market in January, April and June respectively.

The running total points to steady growth for the scheme. Last year's lineup, which included VIPS, SIS, A_A, GM, FG and ANSARA, brought in close to RM63 million, while the 2024 batch — GOLD, FFF, EV, PETRA and MADANI — managed a little under RM46 million.

Under the existing arrangement, half of the net earnings are channelled to the transport ministry, which uses the funds to back initiatives for disadvantaged communities. Beneficiaries include the MyLesen licensing programme, the FLYsiswa scheme and complimentary motorcycle helmet swap events.
