OneShift by Carousell runs 24-hour dealer bidding to fetch top dollar for used cars in Singapore

OneShift, the motoring arm of Singapore's Carousell marketplace, operates a bidding service that pitches a seller's car to a panel of more than 500 vetted dealers and returns the top offer in roughly a day. The company says its fastest valuation to date took just two hours, when the owner submitted complete vehicle details upfront.

The process runs in stages: the seller provides vehicle information as required by Singapore's Land Transport Authority, the car then goes into a 24-hour round of bidding across the dealer network, and a no-obligation inspection is arranged with the highest bidder — either at OneShift's office or a location of the seller's choosing. If a dealer trims its offer after spotting previously undiscovered faults, the seller can refuse the reduction and ask to meet other bidders instead. Quotes hold for seven days, deals typically conclude within two weeks, and handover can be pushed back as far as a month, though the final price is then adjusted for depreciation.

Sourcing offers is free; OneShift charges a S$109 success fee, GST included, only once a sale actually goes through, and drops the fee altogether for vehicles older than nine years. Partner dealers redeem any outstanding hire-purchase loans and handle LTA paperwork and transfer at no extra cost. The platform claims more than 43,500 cars sold and over 582,500 bids received across its network of 500-plus approved dealers.
