Quatro Rodas ranks 2026's best mid-size pickups over R$300,000 in Brazil

Brazilian magazine Quatro Rodas' annual "Melhor Compra" ranking of diesel mid-size pickups priced above R$300,000 again crowns the Ford Ranger Limited, which lists at R$346,900 and has now led the segment for three consecutive years on the strength of its cabin comfort and technology. Motivation comes from a 250-hp 3.0-liter V6 turbo-diesel driving through a ten-speed automatic, with all-wheel drive and six drive modes; a R$26,000 option package adds 20-inch wheels, a 360-degree camera array and adaptive cruise control.

Second place goes to the Mitsubishi Triton Katana at R$324,990, notable for making equipment rivals charge extra for — 360-degree cameras, adaptive cruise, darkened 20-inch wheels, a 9-inch infotainment screen and dual-zone climate control — standard across the range. Its 204-hp 2.4-liter biturbo diesel runs through a six-speed automatic with 4x4.

The Toyota Hilux SRX Plus (R$357,890) rounds out the top three. Widened tracks under flared wheel-arch moldings mark out this version, which gains reinforced suspension aimed at off-road use and better stability. The 204-hp 2.8-liter turbodiesel pairs with a six-speed automatic, while adaptive cruise, emergency braking and surround cameras are standard; Toyota's 300-strong dealer network is by far the largest of the trio.

Ownership costs differ sharply. The Ranger and Hilux are projected to shed about 9% of value against 17% for the Triton, whose insurance is also the dearest at R$8,714. Parts are priciest for the Ford (R$21,596) and cheapest for the Toyota (R$16,908), while scheduled servicing totals R$9,001, R$12,970 and R$10,019 respectively.
