MG Vietnam has previewed the updated MG5 sedan, revealing a redesigned exterior, revised cabin and two engine options ahead of an expected launch in Vietnam in the fourth quarter of 2026. The company has not yet announced the new car’s final specifications or price.

The range is set to include a naturally aspirated 1.5-liter engine paired with a CVT, alongside a 1.5-liter turbocharged option matched to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. For reference, the source reports that the 1.5-liter engine produces 127 hp in China, while the turbo version makes 178 hp and 285 Nm. Those figures are not confirmed as Vietnam-market specifications.

MG says the new MG5 will have 12 features under its MG Pilot safety suite. Highlighted technologies include automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning and traffic-sign recognition. The current Vietnam-market MG5 is described as having a more basic set of driver-assistance features, including blind-spot warning and lane-change assistance.

The update brings a substantially revised front end, sportier headlamps and front bumper, and redesigned rear lights and bumper. Inside, the dashboard adopts a more symmetrical layout with two 12.3-inch displays and fewer physical controls. The current MG5 is offered in STD and LUX trims priced at VND 488 million and VND 528 million respectively; prices for the updated model remain unconfirmed.
