Wuling has confirmed to Vietnamese media that the MiniEV will go on sale in Vietnam this September at the earliest, with October 2026 as the fallback. The confirmation came at a recent press event in China, where journalists got an up-close look at the car — and noticed something odd.
Rather than wearing the round headlights of the newest MiniEV generation sold in other markets, the unit shown closely mirrors the Macaron that Wuling Vietnam already retails. The two are believed to share a platform, dimensions, drivetrain, battery, motor and body structure, suggesting the Macaron may simply be part of the MiniEV family. Whether the incoming MiniEV offers more than a name change remains unclear.
For now, current Macaron figures are the best reference: two trims at VND 269 million (205 km per charge) and VND 329 million (300 km), a five-door body 3,256 mm long with a 2,190 mm wheelbase, a 100 km/h top speed, and 30–80% DC fast charging in 35 minutes via CCS2. Equipment spans four drive modes, a rear camera and sensors, ABS/EBD, electronic stability control, hill-start assist and ISOFIX anchors.
The China-spec car shown adds an electronic parking brake with Auto Hold, plus elaborately stitched leather upholstery — neither found on the Vietnamese Macaron — while the 7-inch gauge cluster and 8-inch center screen carry over. The model's Vietnam return has been a winding road: after vanishing from the brand's local website, it resurfaced in March 2026 with a "Coming Soon" teaser and a registered design patent, only for Wuling to launch the near-identical Macaron instead.
