Xiaomi Auto partners with 8 German dealer groups ahead of 2027 European launch

Xiaomi Auto has moved from announcing its European ambitions to actually building the channel. On September 3, at the IFA Berlin consumer electronics show, the carmaking arm of Xiaomi signed memoranda of understanding with an initial eight German dealer groups — the first step toward the retail and service network it plans to have in place before entering European markets in 2027, with Germany as the starting point.

The eight partners, among them Emil Frey Germany, Hahn Automobile, LUEG Mobility and Penske-Jacobs Innovation, are described by Xiaomi Auto as seasoned operators in Germany and elsewhere in Europe, with expertise in selling and servicing premium brands. For now the documents are only MoUs: store counts, territories, investment amounts and terms were not disclosed, and Xiaomi has yet to name the models it will sell in Europe, along with pricing or a delivery timeline.

Yu Liguo, vice president of Xiaomi Auto and head of its international business, framed the agreements as part of a long-term European commitment with local partners at the core, supported by the company's R&D center in Munich. The signing came roughly a week after Xiaomi Auto launched its international website on August 26, which confirmed the 2027 Europe plan and opened a portal for dealer and distribution inquiries.

The overseas push builds on strong domestic momentum: cumulative deliveries in the Chinese mainland have topped 700,000 since the first customer car in March 2024, the SU7 lineup surpassed 500,000 cumulative deliveries in 28.5 months, and the YU7 drew more than 240,000 lock-in orders within 18 hours of its launch. Europe will be the first major market in Xiaomi's international automotive expansion.
