GWM Australia has confirmed the all-new, boxy Haval H7 will reach showrooms in mid-October 2026, with drive-away pricing to open below $50,000. Sharing nothing visually with the SUV that previously carried the H7 badge, the second-generation model launches as a five-seater offered solely with hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains paired with the brand's Hi4 all-wheel-drive system. Four grades are understood to be planned initially, topping out near $54,000 drive-away, and expressions of interest are already open.
Both variants use a 110kW turbocharged 1.5-litre petrol engine. The standard hybrid produces 182kW and 670Nm system-wide, claims a 7.0-second 0-100km/h time and sips 7.0L/100km with a small 1.53kWh LFP battery. The PHEV steps up to a 33.7kWh ternary lithium pack good for 137km of WLTC electric range and 844km combined, while its 320kW output enables a 4.9-second sprint. Every version is rated to tow 1500kg braked.
Measuring 4800mm long on a 2738mm wheelbase, the standard H7 will be joined in 2027 by a stretched seven-seat edition riding a 2850mm wheelbase and spanning 4912mm — longer than a Kia Sorento — slotting beneath the Tank 500 in GWM's local range. Despite its car-like unibody underpinnings, the Chinese-market version offers crawl mode, tank turn and an electronically locking rear differential for light off-roading.
Sold in China since 2023 as the Menglong/Raptor, the new H7 sits alongside the H6, H6 GT and forthcoming Jolion Max in an expanding mid-size SUV line-up. GWM's local marketing chief Steve Maciver said the company sees "a real opportunity" for the model in Australia as it broadens the Haval range's appeal.
