Brazil had more than one million electrified vehicles in circulation by September 2026, according to figures from the Brazilian Electric Vehicle Association. The count includes BEVs, plug-in hybrids and full hybrids, but excludes mild hybrids that cannot drive on electric power alone.

Sales momentum has strengthened sharply: 328,477 electrified vehicles were registered from January through August, up 160.5% year on year and already 47% above the full-year 2025 total. August sales reached 57,386, equal to 22% of the country’s light-vehicle market.

Battery-electric and plug-in hybrid models made up 83.1% of August’s electrified registrations. The rapid growth is putting pressure on charging networks and raising aftersales needs, including high-voltage repair skills, parts availability and insurance costs.
