Epicland is expected to supply the first vehicle under a battery-swap partnership between Huawei’s automotive technology business and CATL, with the model planned for 2027, according to a report by Cailian. The report, published October 20, did not name the vehicle. Epicland is a brand developed jointly by Dongfeng and Huawei.
The cooperation was formalized on October 19, when Huawei’s intelligent automotive business, known as Newcool or Yinwang, joined CATL’s Choco battery-swap ecosystem. CATL’s battery-swap operator, Contemporary Amperex Energy Service Technology, is also involved. The partners aim to make vehicles equipped with Huawei Qiankun solutions compatible with the network and connect vehicles, swap stations and cloud services.
The announced roadmap includes using battery condition and travel-pattern data to anticipate energy demand. It also describes an automated process in which a vehicle finds a station, positions itself for the swap and departs after a battery change targeted to take 99 seconds. These are planned capabilities, not confirmation that the unnamed 2027 model will offer them in production.
Epicland’s first model, the X9, launched on September 24, with nationwide deliveries beginning October 18 at Huawei’s Songshan Lake campus. It is a six-seat, three-row extended-range electric SUV with Huawei Qiankun ADS 5 driver assistance and a HarmonySpace 6 cockpit as standard. The report did not say that the X9 is the planned battery-swap vehicle. Epicland operates outside Huawei’s HIMA alliance.
