BYD’s Fang Cheng Bao has confirmed plans for a Tai 6 and expects the Formula SL to debut in 2027, as it broadens its lineup in China. General manager Xiong Tianbo said the Tai 6 mentioned online is real, but gave no information on its positioning, specifications or launch date.

The brand’s nearer-term launches are the Tai 9, a six-seat plug-in hybrid SUV with a 2+2+2 layout, expected later in November, and the Shark pickup, planned for December. The Shark first went on sale in Mexico in May 2024 and has since completed a Chinese regulatory filing. The filed version pairs a 1.5-liter turbo engine with electric motors at both axles. Fang Cheng Bao is also moving beyond off-road SUVs into sedans, shooting brakes, family-focused SUVs and pickups. Its Formula S sedan and Formula S GT shooting brake went on sale on September 16.

The product push comes alongside efforts to address delivery delays. Xiong said the Formula S series equipped with DiSus-C suspension began production on November 7, with customer deliveries expected in mid-to-late November after transport. Fang Cheng Bao reported 600,000 cumulative sales on November 1. October sales were 43,872 vehicles, up 41.29% year on year, while January-to-October sales reached 329,308, a 124.99% increase.
