Jetour South Africa has addressed concerns from the Automobile Association of South Africa over the T2’s payload ratings. Before the T1 and T2 went on sale locally in October 2025, Jetour International calculated payload by subtracting mass in running order from gross vehicle mass. South African practice instead uses gross vehicle mass minus tare mass.

Jetour says it checked the revised figures through its own weigh-ins, attended by the AA and the National Regulator for Compulsory Specifications. The resulting payloads are 500 kg for the T2 Odyssey 2.0TD, 479 kg for the T2 Xplora 2.0TD and 478 kg for the T2 PHEV 1.5T i-DM. Those figures exceed the respective stated ratings by 25 kg, 4 kg and 3 kg.

The company has not provided the full calculations behind the revised figures. It says it is working with the NRCS on a licensing solution for T2 owners.
