Jetour T2 sheds its off-road look in Chinese facelift; plug-in hybrid rises to 782 hp

The T2 only reached Brazilian showrooms in June, but the boxy SUV has already been given a thorough makeover for its home market. The refreshed version made its debut at the Chengdu Auto Show, softening the model's trail-ready styling in favor of a more upscale appearance.

Up front, the four-dot rectangular headlights and branded grille make way for a round light signature, with the Jetour badge relocating from the grille to the hood. The bumper is far less aggressive, the wheel-arch cladding is now painted in the body color, and chrome detailing on the side steps plus new five twin-spoke wheels complete the look. At the rear, the spare-wheel cover has been cleverly repurposed as a stowage compartment for the plug-in hybrid's charging cables, while the brake light is now a single-piece unit.

Inside, the cabin picks up the steering wheel from the G700 — the SUV Jetour unveiled at the Interlagos Festival — and moves the gear selector onto the steering column, opening up the center console. Trim is now padded and the front seats offer eight-point massage.

The biggest news is mechanical: a plug-in hybrid system pairing three electric motors with the 1.5 turbo delivers 782 hp and 85.1 kgfm of torque, dwarfing the 320 hp version sold in Brazil. Jetour cites 245 km of electric range and 1,400 km when the combustion engine joins in. Chinese combustion variants, meanwhile, trade the 1.5 turbo for a 2.0 turbo with an eight-speed automatic, though no output figures were given.
