Renault Geely do Brasil announced a €319 million investment in its Ayrton Senna industrial complex in São José dos Pinhais, Paraná, on September 15, 2026. The funding is intended to expand the site’s capabilities and support production of full hybrids, plug-in hybrids and battery-electric vehicles. Combined with an earlier €580 million investment, the new commitment brings the stated total to €899 million.
The joint operation was established on November 3, 2025, after Geely acquired a 26.4% stake in Renault do Brasil. The companies say their cooperation is aimed at developing both brands in Brazil and building vehicles with low or no tailpipe emissions locally.
Renault plans to start producing a new electrified model at the complex in 2027. It is expected to use Geely’s GEA, or Global Intelligent Electric Architecture, which the article describes as adaptable to electric, hybrid and range-extender vehicles and as incorporating connectivity, software and artificial intelligence. This would be the first Brazilian Renault model developed under the company’s FutuREady strategy, which includes a target of 36 new launches by 2030.
Geely models are also part of the production plans. Manufacturing of the EX5 EM-i Super Hybrid began in Brazil in early September, with its commercial launch expected before the end of 2027. The complex is also due to begin making the all-electric Geely EX2 hatchback in December. The investment is presented as a step toward making the site a major regional hub for electrified vehicles.
