Xpeng has outlined further details of the G9L, a large SUV scheduled to join its Australian lineup next month. At 5.12 metres long, with a 3,100mm wheelbase, it will be offered as a battery-electric vehicle or with an extended-range electric powertrain. The company has not yet confirmed which specifications or seating configurations will be available in Australia, or announced prices. The G9L is positioned to compete with large electric SUVs such as the Kia EV9 and Volvo EX90.

The range-extender setup uses a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine only to generate electricity; an electric motor drives the wheels. Xpeng quotes output of 430kW and 695Nm, with a 0–100km/h time of 5.4 seconds. A 63kWh LFP battery is rated for 287km of WLTP electric driving, and claimed combined range reaches as high as 1,200km. The system uses an 800V architecture and supports DC charging at up to 5C, with a stated 10-to-80-per-cent charge time of about 12 minutes in suitable conditions.

The cabin can accommodate seven, with features including a zero-gravity front passenger seat, heated and ventilated Nappa leather front seats with massage, and powered, heated second- and third-row seats. Equipment also includes a 26-speaker audio system, an integrated refrigerator and passenger displays. Chassis hardware includes dual-chamber air suspension, continuous damping control and rear-wheel steering.

Xpeng says the G9L will use its XOS 6.0 infotainment system and Turing-chip-based driver assistance. Some planned driving and parking functions are intended for a future over-the-air update, subject to local rules and rollout timing; the system remains driver-supervised. The model will sit below the larger GX, due in Australia in 2027. Xpeng has also outlined other upcoming Australian additions, including an updated G6 and the X9 people mover.
