Xpeng has released official images of the Mona L05, a new five-seat SUV for China that will top the brand’s lower-priced Mona range. Order-taking is scheduled to begin on October 15, while preliminary prices are expected later this week. Mona was established for relatively affordable electrified cars aimed at younger buyers; its earlier models include the M03 liftback, launched in 2024, and the L03 SUV, which arrived in China in July 2026.

The L05 shares several design cues with the L03, including T-shaped headlights, frameless doors, a glass roof and a full-width rear light. Black plastic trim around the wheel arches distinguishes the larger model. Certification data gives it dimensions of 4,870 mm long, 1,930 mm wide and 1,636 mm high, with a 2,940 mm wheelbase. That makes it larger than the L03, which measures 4,650 mm in length and has a 2,850 mm wheelbase. Xpeng has not yet disclosed the L05’s luggage capacity or shown its cabin officially; reports indicate its layout will closely follow the L03, with a central touchscreen and a head-up display instead of a conventional instrument panel.

Both powertrain options are expected to drive the rear wheels. The range-extender hybrid is reported to pair a 95-hp 1.5-litre petrol engine, used as a generator, with a 249-hp electric motor and a 37.2-kWh battery. The all-electric version is expected to use the same motor and a 71.1-kWh battery. For comparison, the L03 currently costs 123,800–156,800 yuan in China. The source suggests the larger L05 will cost more and notes that the L03 is sold in some other countries as the Xpeng L03, though no overseas plans for the L05 have been confirmed.
