Yangwang’s U9X electric hypercar reached 503.17 km/h during a test run on roads in Abu Dhabi, setting a world speed record, according to the report. The result was officially confirmed by the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) and Guinness World Records. The car is described as the first production electric vehicle to exceed 500 km/h.
BYD says the U9X uses four electric motors with combined output of more than 3,000 horsepower. The company plans to build 30 examples, with the car’s price estimated at about US$2.9 million.
The result surpasses a previous run by the Yangwang U9 Xtreme, which reached 496.22 km/h during testing in Germany in September 2025.
