Aion plans to bring the GS7, its largest model yet, to the UK next year as it expands beyond its current all-electric range. The Chinese brand describes the new SUV as a five-seat vehicle measuring about 4.9 metres long, and says it intends to offer both hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions. UK-market technical details have not yet been confirmed.
In other markets, the GS7 plug-in hybrid pairs a 1.5-litre petrol engine with three electric motors for a combined 501bhp. It drives all four wheels and is reported to reach 62mph from rest in 5.8 seconds. Its 36.3kWh battery is said to provide more than 90 miles of electric range. The model uses Aion’s new EV+ platform, rather than the AEP 3.0 architecture found under the UT and V.
Aion says the GS7 will add more upmarket cabin features to its range. Equipment available in other markets includes reclining rear seats, a 22-speaker audio system, Nappa leather with Shiatsu massage, four voice-recognition zones and a head-up display. The article suggests its eventual price could be closer to the Skoda Kodiaq than to the more expensive Land Rover Discovery, but no UK price has been announced.
Aion says the GS7 and the off-road-focused Yue 7 are expected to follow within the next 18 months. The company has not confirmed its wider UK range beyond 2027; it has said the i60 and N60 are not in its short- to medium-term UK plans, with other new models unlikely before late 2028.
