Geely introduced the methanol-capable Galaxy Starshine 6 EF in China on November 3, 2026. The plug-in hybrid is also known as the Emgrand L EM-i outside China. Its discounted price runs from 76,800 to 96,800 yuan (about $11,550–$14,560); before discounts, the range is 86,800–106,800 yuan. The regular Starshine 6 went on sale in October 2025, and Geely delivered 24,970 units in China from January through September 2026.
The EF pairs a naturally aspirated 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine, which can use methanol or conventional fuel, with a 140 kW (188 hp) electric motor and a single-speed DHT transmission. The engine produces up to 93 kW (125 hp) and has a stated thermal efficiency of 48.15%. Buyers can choose 17 kWh or 28.3 kWh LFP batteries. Depending on configuration, the sedan has a CLTC electric range of 130–230 km and a claimed combined range of up to 1,880 km.
Geely gives methanol consumption as 6.7 liters per 100 km. At the cited Chinese methanol price of 2.9 yuan per liter, the company estimates running costs of about 200 yuan per 100 km, and says owners could save up to 30,000 yuan over 100,000 km. Geely has installed 1,400 methanol stations across China. The car measures 4,806 mm long, has a 2,756 mm wheelbase, and includes a 14.6-inch central touchscreen and a 609-liter trunk.
