Avatr T09 flagship SUV lands in MIIT catalog with three-motor plug-in hybrid setup

Avatr Technology's forthcoming flagship SUV has been documented under the T09 name in the 411th batch of new vehicle models published by China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. Only plug-in hybrid variants made the list, with the exterior having been revealed a day earlier. A market launch is targeted for the final stretch of 2026.

Measuring 5,285 mm long with a 3,150-mm wheelbase and seating for six, the T09 comes in two configurations. The range-topper pairs a 155-kW 2.0-liter turbocharged engine with three electric motors — 180 kW at the front axle and 225 kW apiece at the rear — and weighs 3,035 kg. The lesser setup combines a 110-kW 1.5-liter turbo unit with two motors rated at 180 kW and 310 kW. Both versions reach a top speed of 220 km/h.

Energy comes from a 71.24-kWh ternary lithium pack supplied by a CATL subsidiary in Sichuan, delivering 300-330 km of electric driving, though the filing doesn't state which test cycle applies. Huawei's Qiankun ADS 5 running on a hardware setup with four LiDARs is expected on board; Avatr vice president Yong Jun has described the model as the company's most comprehensive joint project with Huawei to date.

The T09 will wade into a crowded field of large six-seat SUVs that includes the Aito M9, Li L9, Denza N9 and IM LS9. The stakes are considerable for Avatr, which sold 35,250 vehicles from January through July — roughly 5,040 per month and well behind Nio and Xpeng — shortly after rolling out the smaller 07L SUV in August starting at 219,900 yuan.
