Beijing's flagship motor show will break with its usual rhythm next year: the 2027 edition runs March 27 through April 5, marking the event's first-ever appearance in an odd-numbered year. Rather than a conventional full-scale show, it will be staged as a specialized expo — formally the 2027 Beijing International New-Quality Automotive and Future Smart Mobility Exhibition — at the Shunyi New Venue and the Capital International Exhibition Convention Center, the two sites that hosted the 2026 edition.

The 10-day program opens with two media days, shifts to trade access on March 29-30, and welcomes the public from March 31, while a parts-focused segment runs through March 30. Beyond vehicles, the floor will add smart factories, digitalized production lines, robotics and new-energy transport services, with displays built around the theme of "AI + cars."

The announcement settles months of speculation about whether Beijing would move to an annual cadence. Under a September 7 agreement between China's two trade-promotion bodies, the major comprehensive shows keep their alternating April slots — Beijing in even years, Shanghai in odd ones — and the 2027 Shanghai show is already set for April 23-May 2, with a planned 400,000-square-meter footprint and a new embodied-intelligence zone.

Organizers also want the Beijing event to work as an export platform: debuts will be encouraged, overseas buyers and dealers invited, and matchmaking sessions arranged for Chinese carmakers pursuing foreign markets. For scale, the 2026 show filled 380,000 square meters with more than 1,000 exhibitors and 1.28 million visits, displaying 1,451 vehicles including 181 debuts.
