BYD has begun selling its Racco electric kei car in Sri Lanka, marking the model’s first arrival outside Japan. The introductory price is 11,450,000 Sri Lankan rupees, equivalent to US$34,615, and is valid through November 9, 2026. The article says the price is expected to increase after that period. Macau is due to become another market for the car shortly.

The Racco first went on sale in Japan in late July 2026. It drew 1,000 orders in its first two weeks and was priced there from 2,140,000 to 2,497,000 yen (about US$13,555 to US$15,815), depending on trim. Sri Lanka’s launch price is roughly two and a half times the Japanese entry price. The report notes that import duties and taxes make vehicles costly in Sri Lanka; as a comparison, a petrol Toyota Yaris Cross is listed at 19,950,000 rupees, or US$60,315.

The front-wheel-drive Racco measures 3,395 mm long, 1,475 mm wide and 1,800 mm tall, with a 2,520 mm wheelbase. It seats four and has a 280-liter trunk. Buyers can choose a 22.4 kWh or 35.84 kWh LFP battery; the reported WLTC range spans 210 to 320 km. Its electric motor produces 47 kW (63 hp) and 160 Nm, and the turning radius is 4.8 meters.
