New real-life images of BYD's forthcoming Great Seagull (Da Haiou) electric hatchback have surfaced online, filling in the picture of a model that will slot between today's Seagull — sold abroad as the Dolphin Mini or Surf — and the Dolphin. It is substantially larger than the Seagull, measuring 4205 mm long, 1810 mm wide and 1570 mm tall, with a wheelbase stretched by 150 mm to 2650 mm, giving it roughly the same footprint as the Dolphin. Styling cues include a blanked-off front end, polygonal light clusters, geometric surface detailing and a new Ink Green paint finish.

The headline hardware is a roof-mounted LiDAR sensor, which points to support for BYD's God's Eye B (DiPilot 300) driver-assistance suite — covering navigation on autopilot in cities and on highways, automated parking, traffic-light recognition and autonomous lane changes. Inside, the conventional instrument cluster is gone in favour of a large central touchscreen, paired with a two-spoke steering wheel and an open, roomy centre console.

Power comes from a 95 kW (127 hp) permanent-magnet synchronous motor fed by FinDreams LFP packs in 30 kWh and 39.2 kWh capacities. CLTC range spans 320 km to 420 km (259–340 km WLTP), and top speed is 150 km/h.

The new model will sit above the current Seagull, which starts at 69,800 yuan (about 10,300 USD), as a more premium, better-equipped option, while remaining a slightly less powerful and more affordable step down from the Dolphin. For context, China EV DataTracker figures show BYD delivered 10,103 Seagulls and 16,829 Dolphins domestically in July 2026.
