BYD’s second-generation Seagull electric hatchback completed a tire blowout test at 140 km/h in China, remaining stable after its front-right tire was rapidly deflated. A device punctured the tire during a straight-line run; the car stayed on course as it slowed. BYD Ocean series general manager Zhang Zhuo shared video of the test. The Seagull starts at 65,900 yuan (about US$9,880), a price point at which the source says advanced stability systems are uncommon among Chinese mass-market cars.

The new Seagull is a rear-wheel-drive compact hatchback measuring 4,205 mm long, 1,810 mm wide and 1,570 mm tall, with a 2,650 mm wheelbase. It is 425 mm longer than the first-generation model. Buyers can choose an 85 kW or 95 kW motor and a 30.1 kWh or 39.2 kWh LFP battery; claimed CLTC range is 320–420 km. BYD says its flash-charging system can take the battery from 10% to 97% in nine minutes. Prices range from 65,900 to 99,900 yuan (about US$9,880–14,850).

Available equipment includes a LiDAR-based God’s Eye (DiPilot 300) driver-assistance system, with urban- and highway-route navigation functions. The driver must still monitor driving conditions. Other listed features include a 15.6-inch screen, a massage function for the driver’s seat and a 94-liter front trunk. The article contrasts the test with an earlier 120 km/h dual-tire blowout test involving the Leapmotor D19.
