BYD’s next-generation Tang EV has appeared in vehicle registration filings in China, with a market debut expected by the end of 2026. The electric SUV is sold in Vietnam under the Sealion 8 name. The filing describes an all-wheel-drive version measuring 5,045 mm long, 1,980 mm wide and 1,740 mm tall, with a listed weight of 2,975 kg.

Compared with the previous-generation AWD model, the new version is 145 mm longer and has a wheelbase extended by 130 mm. Its declared top speed is 250 km/h, 70 km/h higher than before, and the filing lists seating for five; the earlier generation offered six- and seven-seat layouts. The front and rear motors produce maximum outputs of 215 kW and 300 kW respectively, for a combined 515 kW, or about 691 hp.

The model is listed with battery capacities of 88.682 kWh and 105.792 kWh, while reported CLTC range figures are 730 km, 830 km and 850 km. The available information does not establish which battery and range figures apply to the 515 kW AWD version. Other reported equipment includes DiSus-A air suspension, DiPilot 300 driver assistance and roof-mounted lidar, though fitment and cabin details have not been confirmed in the filing. In Vietnam, the current Sealion 8 is offered in one version for 1.569 billion dong; it launched in April 2025 as a China-imported SUV.
