BYD began accepting pre-orders in China for the second-generation Seagull on October 9, ahead of a launch planned for later this year. The reservation announcement, made by an executive in the company’s Ocean sales division, showed six exterior colors: green, pink, orange, blue, white and gray. BYD has not revealed pre-order pricing or a precise launch date.
The new Seagull measures 4,205 mm long, 1,810 mm wide and 1,570 mm tall, with a 2,650 mm wheelbase. That makes it 425 mm longer than the current model, with 150 mm added between the axles, and increases seating from four to five. Earlier regulatory filings list a 95 kW permanent-magnet synchronous motor and LFP batteries for both versions. One variant can be fitted with LiDAR and extra radar equipment.
Other listed changes include a column-mounted gear selector, power-adjustable front seats, a driver-seat massage function and a 94-liter front trunk. With the rear seats folded, cargo capacity reaches 1,380 liters. The 2026 Seagull currently costs 69,900 to 85,900 yuan, with LiDAR offered on selected versions for an additional charge.
Seagull sales reached 38,650 in September, up 11.75% from a year earlier, marking two straight months of annual growth. However, deliveries for January through September were 265,901, down 33.22%. The model sold 529,537 units in 2025 and has accumulated about 1.55 million sales since its April 2023 debut.
