BYD introduced the Atto 8 at the Paris Motor Show on October 12, presenting the seven-seat electric SUV as the flagship of its European SUV range. The model is the European-market counterpart to the Tang L, which went on sale in China in April 2025. European sales are scheduled to start in the first quarter of 2027.

Both Atto 8 versions use a 115-kWh battery and BYD’s second-generation Blade Battery, with flash charging. BYD says charging from 10% to 70% takes five minutes, while reaching 97% takes nine minutes. At minus 30°C, a charge from 20% to 97% takes 12 minutes. The company plans to build 3,000 flash-charging stations across Europe by the end of 2027.

The rear-wheel-drive Design produces up to 340 kW and has a WLTP combined range of 405 miles (about 652 km). The all-wheel-drive Excellence adds a front motor, raising output to 570 kW; it reaches 62 mph from rest in 4.6 seconds and has a claimed range of 374 miles (about 602 km). The SUV measures 5,040 mm long and seats seven across three rows. Its cabin includes a 15.6-inch touchscreen, while cargo capacity ranges from 270 liters with all seats occupied to 1,960 liters with the rear rows folded; a 136-liter front trunk adds storage.
