Plug-in hybrid vehicle (PHEV) sales in Chile rose 219.6% year on year to 4,429 units between January and July 2026, according to figures from the National Automotive Association of Chile (ANAC) cited by Lynk & Co. The figures were highlighted on World Electric Vehicle Day, September 9. Across all new zero- and low-emission vehicles, sales reached 34,818 over the same seven-month period, up 95.4% from a year earlier.
Lynk & Co used the occasion to offer guidance on PHEV battery care. The company said frequent plugging-in alone is not the main cause of battery wear, and recommended AC charging for regular use, with faster charging when a quicker range top-up is needed. It also advised avoiding long periods at extremely high or low charge levels, suggesting intermediate levels for everyday driving and a full charge when a trip calls for it. The article cited a Geotab analysis of more than 22,700 electric vehicles that found average battery-capacity loss of about 2.3% per year; that finding was not specific to Lynk & Co models.
The brand says its SUV 01 offers up to 75 km of electric range and up to 750 km combined range, while the 08 is rated for up to 245 km electric and 1,400 km combined. PHEVs pair an electric motor with a combustion engine, and may also recover energy during braking and deceleration.
