BYD's Atto 2 — sold in China as the Yuan UP — was the most exported car from China in July 2026, with 43,860 units, according to the passenger-car export ranking published by CNMO. That put it 9,182 units ahead of Tesla's Model Y (34,678). The Model Y and Tesla's Model 3, third with 31,652, were the only two models in the top ten not from a Chinese brand.

BYD and Geely fill most of the list

Chinese brands took eight of the ten places. BYD placed three models: the Atto 2 at No. 1, the Dolphin Mini (Seagull at home) at No. 7 with 20,271 units, and the Seal U (Song PLUS) at No. 8 with 17,542 — 81,673 units between them. Geely also placed three: the EX2 (Xingyuan) at No. 5 with 22,427, the Coolray at No. 9 with 17,322 and the Galaxy Starship 7 at No. 10 with 14,916, for 54,665 in total. Chery's Tiggo 7 was the best-placed single model from any other Chinese maker, fourth with 23,951, ahead of the MG ZS at 21,032.

Together the ten models accounted for 247,651 exported cars, of which the eight Chinese-brand models made up 181,321.

Small electric cars lead

Three of the Chinese entries are small battery-electric models — the Atto 2, the EX2 and the Dolphin Mini — and together they exported 86,558 units, more than the two Teslas combined (66,330).
