Geely’s 2026 Coolray has arrived in South Africa as a small crossover aimed at drivers seeking a livelier alternative to ordinary family transport. It is offered in Nova, Vanguard and Vertex trims, priced from R369,900 to R429,900. The review found that its sporty styling and generous equipment are balanced by practical cabin space and a claimed 330-litre boot.

All versions use a turbocharged 1.5-litre four-cylinder producing 128 kW and 290 N.m, with power sent to the front wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Geely claims a 0–100 km/h time of 7.6 seconds, a 200 km/h top speed and combined fuel use of 6.5 L/100 km. Drivers can choose Eco, Comfort, Sport or Adaptive settings. The tested crossover was lively and grippy when pushed, though the transmission could hesitate during acceleration changes and the ride made road imperfections noticeable.

Standard equipment includes a 14.6-inch infotainment touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, an 8.88-inch driver display and dual-zone climate control. The range also comes with driver-assistance systems such as adaptive cruise control and lane-keep assist; the review noted that lane guidance could be inconsistent on some roads. Vanguard equipment includes leather upholstery, a panoramic sunroof and an electrically operated tailgate.

Geely includes a five-year/150,000 km vehicle and engine warranty, a five-year/50,000 km service plan and five years of unlimited-kilometre roadside assistance. The article identifies the Omoda C5 and GAC GS3 Emzoom as alternatives, while positioning the Coolray as a more accessible choice for buyers after a sporty crossover.
