Thailand's Chinese-brand news this week was almost entirely about price. BYD ran a two-day sale on October 10 and 11 across four models, Geely and Chery have discounts running to the end of the month, and two entries are on the way: GAC's AION i60 in November and Li Auto by the end of the year.
BYD's two-day sale
For October 10 to 11, BYD's Thai distributor cut prices across its range:
- The Seal 6 EV fell THB 100,000, with the Standard at THB 699,900 and the Dynamic at THB 799,900; the Premium stayed at THB 949,900.
- The M6 Extended seven-seater fell THB 50,000 to THB 799,900.
- The Atto 1 Premium fell THB 60,000 to THB 399,900; the article notes an earlier three-day September discount before this one.
- The locally assembled Atto 3 Premium fell THB 60,000 to THB 609,900, while the Extended, discounted by THB 120,000, was listed as out of stock.
The Seal 6, M6 and Atto 1 are imported from China as complete vehicles; the Atto 3 is the locally assembled one in this group.
Month-long offers from other brands
- Geely's EX5 is THB 30,000 to 50,000 lower through October 31, from THB 759,000.
- Chery's V23 EV is down by up to THB 60,000 in an anniversary promotion, the Plus 2WD at THB 699,900.
- Omoda & Jaecoo cut scheduled-maintenance prices on every model, with some charges down more than 20% from October 7.
Entries on the way
GAC says the AION i60 will debut in Thailand in November; price and specification for Thailand are not confirmed. Li Auto plans to enter by the end of 2026 as one of its first right-hand-drive markets, without naming models.
What it means
- Price cuts are being used by BYD as short, dated events, and the list prices of its imported models are the ones moving.
- Two-day windows and out-of-stock trims mean headline discounts may not be available to every buyer.
- New entrants are lining up behind an already discounted market, and none has priced yet.
