Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority and the Dubai Integrated Economic Zones Authority have opened Dubai Mobility Labs in Silicon Oasis. The facility is designed to test and certify autonomous-driving systems and other future transport technologies in controlled settings and on public roads, including routes extending to the Al Qudra area.

The labs offer 248 test scenarios to assess how vehicles detect their surroundings, make decisions and respond to traffic and environmental changes. Tesla, China’s WeRide and Pony.ai have already conducted trials there. DEKRA will operate the site for three years, overseeing testing and safety practices; facilities also include electric-vehicle charging stations.

The project supports Dubai’s goal of making a quarter of all trips in the emirate autonomous by 2030. Officials also see it as a way to attract investment and expertise and to help develop new technologies toward commercial use.
