Chinese automaker Forthing has started operations in Chile with distributor Indumotora, launching five model lines that span SUVs, family people-movers and electrified vehicles. The brand plans to open with 14 sales points and targets 1,000 vehicle sales during 2027. Forthing is Dongfeng Liuzhou Motor’s passenger-car brand; the manufacturer traces its industrial history to 1954, while Forthing itself was established in 2001.
The entry-level X5 is a five-seat SUV with a 1.5-liter turbo engine producing 188 hp and 300 Nm, paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. It is priced from CLP 15.99 million, while the larger, seven-seat X5 Plus starts at CLP 17.99 million. The seven-seat U-Tour people-mover will arrive from December 2026, with gasoline and conventional-hybrid powertrains; its announced starting price is CLP 21.49 million. The larger V9 is a seven-seat hybrid priced at CLP 35.99 million.
Two range-extended models round out the launch. The S7 REEV sedan has a 209-hp electric motor and a 28.3-kWh LFP battery, offering up to 188 km of certified electric driving and up to 1,040 km of combined range. Its Chilean price is CLP 25.99 million. The TK5 REEV SUV has a 163-hp electric motor, a 31.94-kWh battery and claimed range of more than 174 km on electricity, or up to 950 km combined; it costs CLP 23.99 million. Both use a gasoline engine as a generator rather than directly driving the wheels.
The launch expands Indumotora’s local brand portfolio, with Forthing emphasizing electrified options alongside conventional gasoline models. The figures and prices were announced for the Chilean market.
