Geely has officially detailed the refreshed EX5 ahead of its Chinese market debut on September 23, where the electric SUV will be badged Galaxy E5. The timing matters: per China EV DataTracker, the outgoing car managed 40,776 domestic deliveries from January through August 2026, down 45.9% year on year, and the update is clearly aimed at keeping Geely competitive in a cutthroat EV segment.
The biggest mechanical shift is a new rear-mounted motor producing 329 hp — 114 hp more than before — running on an 800V electrical architecture. The entry battery is 61.5 kWh, good for 550 km CLTC (451 km WLTP), while the top-spec 70 kWh pack reaches 635 km CLTC and 521 km WLTP. For reference, the current EX5 covers roughly 430–475 km on the WLTP cycle.
Practicality and cabin tech also move forward. A 160-liter frunk sits under a power-operated hood rated to carry 50 kg, dimensions remain at 4,636 mm long on a 2,750 mm wheelbase, and the charge port has migrated to the rear fender. Inside, buyers get a floating touchscreen, digital cluster, head-up display, Flyme Sound audio and a panoramic glass roof.
Driver assistance upgrades to the G-Pilot H5 suite, which gains LiDAR and additional sensors to support Navigate on Autopilot on both urban roads and highways. Visually the car stays close to today's model but adds conventional door handles, extra front sensing hardware and a sportier bumper accented in matte chrome.
