Geely is preparing to add the Monjaro EM-i plug-in hybrid SUV to its Mexican lineup in the coming weeks. It closely resembles the gasoline-powered Monjaro, though its front bumper has been revised slightly. The five-seat SUV measures 4.8 metres long, with a 2.85-metre wheelbase, and is positioned against models including the Toyota RAV4 PHEV.
The cabin offers 633 litres of cargo space, expanding to 2,183 litres with the rear seats folded. Depending on trim, equipment can include a 15.4-inch central touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 12.3-inch instrument display, a head-up display, 16-speaker audio, a 540-degree camera system, and heated, ventilated and massage-function seats. Safety features listed include six airbags and driver-assistance systems such as adaptive cruise control, lane keeping and blind-spot detection.
Power comes from a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine paired with a three-speed DHT transmission and a 29.8-kWh battery. Buyers can choose a single-motor setup producing 275 hp and 401 lb-ft, or a dual-motor version rated at 335 hp and 492 lb-ft. Geely quotes up to 130 km of electric-only driving and a combined range of 1,095 km; the battery can reach 80% charge in 15 minutes.
In Mexico, the GL starts at 747,900 pesos and the GF at 819,900 pesos. The gasoline Monjaro will remain on sale at 699,900 pesos.
