Geely is bringing the Monjaro EM-i to Colombia as the opening move for its Galaxy sub-brand in the market. A first drive took place on rough off-road routes and in Mexico City traffic. Geely plans to offer a special launch price at the upcoming Bogotá Motor Show, but the article does not give a figure.
The plug-in hybrid combines a turbocharged 1.5-liter gasoline engine with two electric motors. Output is rated at 335 hp and 667 Nm, enabling a claimed 0–100 km/h time of 5.83 seconds. A 3DHT transmission works with an e-AWD system, which can be set for electric or hybrid operation; a permanent all-wheel-drive mode is also available. The review highlighted the vehicle’s performance on cobbled and muddy roads, as well as its continuously adjustable damping system.
Geely quotes a combined range of 1,095 km and up to 130 km in electric-only mode, both measured on the NEDC cycle. The 29.8-kWh battery supports DC charging at up to 78 kW and AC charging at 6.6 kW; charging from 30% to 80% takes about 15 minutes, according to the company. V2L and V2V functions can supply power to external devices or another vehicle.
The 4,900-mm-long SUV has a 2,845-mm wheelbase. Cabin features include massaging, heated and ventilated front seats, a 15.4-inch display with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a 25.6-inch head-up display. The review positions the Monjaro EM-i as Geely’s bid to compete in the extended-range plug-in hybrid segment, where established brands already have strong offerings.
