Geely has officially pulled the covers off its updated EX5 electric crossover, which reaches the Chinese market on September 23 wearing the Galaxy E5 name. The headline mechanical change is a rear-mounted motor rated at 245 kW (329 hp), a gain of 114 hp over the outgoing version, and the car now sits on an 800V electrical architecture.

Two battery options are offered: a 61.5 kWh pack rated at 550 km CLTC (451 km WLTP) and a larger 70 kWh unit that stretches range to 635 km CLTC (521 km WLTP) — a clear step up from the current model's 430–475 km WLTP figures.

The overall silhouette carries over, but the refreshed car switches to conventional door handles, adds a roof-mounted LiDAR plus extra front-fender sensors, and wears sportier bumpers with matte-chrome trim. Practicality improves too, thanks to a 160-liter frunk under a power-operated hood (maximum load 50 kg), while the footprint measures 4636/1920/1670 mm on a 2,750 mm wheelbase.

Inside, buyers get a floating touchscreen, digital instrument cluster and head-up display, a Flyme Sound audio system, and the G-Pilot H5 assistance suite with navigation assist on both city roads and highways. The timing is telling: EX5 deliveries fell 45.9% year over year to 40,776 units between January and August 2026.
