Geely has unveiled an AI-managed ultra-fast charging system it calls Geely Smart Charge, built on the company's Xingrui PowerMind energy model. The standout number is a single-gun peak output of 2,250 kW at the brand's new charging stations — a figure Geely bills as an industry record.

The "AI-driven" system relies on thermal-prediction algorithms to anticipate battery temperature shifts 30 seconds ahead and adjust power on the fly, holding average battery temperature under 55°C with peaks capped below 65°C. In testing at CATARC, a Lynk & Co 10 fitted with the technology hit a peak of 1,093 kW and went from 10% to 97% charge in 8 minutes 40 seconds, with the pack below 55°C for 57% of that session.

Hardware backing the system comes in the form of new Aegis Golden Brick ultra-short blade batteries. A 395 mm 12C pack heads into the Lynk & Co 10 and Zeekr 001, needing roughly 4 minutes 30 seconds for a 10-70% top-up, while a 370 mm 6C version debuts in the Galaxy E5 and covers the same range in about 8 minutes 25 seconds.

Geely also laid out how it will make the speed usable: more than 100,000 charging guns nationwide by the end of 2027, over half of them Smart Charge units, with coverage reaching every county in China. First owners of compatible models purchased before January 1, 2028 will receive 1,000 yuan (about $150) a year in charging credits for two years, and battery warranty has been stretched from 8 years/150,000 km to 8 years/200,000 km. The site's editor stays skeptical, noting the demonstrated speed trails CATL's third-gen Shenxing battery and arguing that stations, not just speed, will decide the fight — BYD is set to finish 20,000 flash-charging stations this year.
