Huawei has extended its HarmonyOS smart-cockpit technology to an electric tricycle in China. The vehicle, made by Huaihai, was presented at Huawei’s 2026 HarmonyOS Ecosystem Conference in Shenzhen. Huawei is supplying the technology; Huaihai is responsible for the trike’s design, development and marketing. Neither company has announced a price. Comparable enclosed tricycles sell for about 10,000 yuan, or roughly US$1,500, in China.

The trike is described as the first three-wheeled vehicle to receive Huawei’s smart-cockpit functions. Conference materials showed compatibility with HarmonyOS devices, voice control for complex commands and smartphone connectivity. Screenshots of a companion app demonstrated remote locking and unlocking, vehicle location and system diagnostics. Voice input for navigation and climate controls was also suggested, though the source did not detail the full feature set.

The move comes as China’s enclosed e-trikes face tighter regulation. Once commonly used without registration, insurance or a driving licence, these vehicles are now classified as motorbikes and subject to closer oversight. That shift has drawn established manufacturers into the segment. Similar trikes are typically used for short local journeys; examples with 2.1-kWh lead-acid batteries are reported to offer around 30–50 km of range. The article says whether cost-conscious buyers will pay extra for connected features remains to be seen.
