Jaecoo has priced the J7 SHS-P Black Edition at A$49,990 drive-away in Australia. The mid-size plug-in hybrid SUV is based on the flagship SHS-P Summit AWD and costs A$2,000 more. It is due in dealerships this month, with test drives scheduled to begin in mid-November.

The edition replaces exterior chrome with black finishes on details including the grille, wheels, mirrors and roof rails. Inside, it adds a dark headliner and pillar trim. Its plug-in hybrid system combines a 105kW, 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine with front and rear electric motors, producing combined outputs of 260kW and 490Nm. The 18.4kWh LFP battery supports AC charging at up to 6.6kW and DC charging at up to 40kW. Jaecoo quotes an 80km electric range on the NEDC cycle and fuel consumption of 1.9L/100km.

Standard features include a panoramic sunroof, power tailgate, 14.8-inch infotainment touchscreen, head-up display, Sony audio system, heated and ventilated front seats, adaptive cruise control and a surround-view camera. Omoda Jaecoo Australia provides an eight-year, unlimited-kilometre vehicle warranty, with roadside assistance and capped-price servicing available for up to eight years. The J7 joins a busy Australian market for black-themed special editions, including versions of the Mitsubishi Outlander, Zeekr 7X, Xpeng G6 and Cupra Terramar.
